A Capella Boğaziçi, found by 5 talented soloists from Boğaziçi University in 2002, started its professional music career after being chosen at Istanbul Music Festival Youth Jazz Competition.
In 2005, the group produced its first album which was produced by Kerem Görsev and published with DMC label. With this album, the group was a pioneer in the area of a capella jazz in Turkey.
The group, giving countless concerts in various cities of Turkey between 2002-2005, was in the of 12th International Istanbul Jazz Festival album including the world-wide famous stars such as Tori Amos, Charlie Haden, Dianne Reeves, Elvis Castello and Kerem Görsev, with DMC Jazz label in 2005.
A Capella Boğaziçi, using no other instruments except human voice in its music, promises a unique musical experience to its audience via its rich and dynamic repertory including famous jazz standards as well as Turkish folk music, popular music and world music.
In the summer of 2012, the group engaged in a brand new, extraordinary and attractive cooperation with Fazıl Say who is one of the most precious musicians of Turkey. It produced the album ‘Eurasian Tales’ in which Say’s music was arranged for a capella by Recep Gül. The recording was completed in April 2013 by the engineering of Pieter Snapper and Can Aykal, who are considered to be among the most important classical music recording technicians of Turkey. This album was offered to the music-lovers with the label Equinox in January 2014 and was highly appreciated.
A Capella Boğaziçi, making a name for itself with jazz and classical music repertory as well as popular music, gained success in social media with the videos ‘Turkish Pop Music History’. The group reached many audiences by being watched in total about 30 million times in YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and various video sharing platforms.
